Blue Moon

Last night was a blue moon. I was at my ward's overnighter "girl's camping experience" (it wasn't girl's camp because we didn't have a schedule). It was so laid back. It was nice.

We camped at Pineview Reservoir. Our camp was right next to the little lake. We took a midnight stroll and we sat on logs while our feet pruned. Then we went back up to our camp and stayed up until 2:30 a.m. This killed me, but I didn't want to be the only one in the tent. That's too lonely.

fuzzy picture of the blue moon reflecting off the lake.

today we swam at a little beachy area. I was the palest person. I'm completely honest. Iris (a red head) and I competed for the whitest skin. Our legs glowed through the murky water.

We came back and I'm exhausted. . . and a tad sunburnt.

Washegon trip

Brayden is gone. He's been gone for a while. He's catching on to Hmong! This is his blog: braydenkeisker.blogspot.com

Some of my family and I went on a little road trip up to Washington/Oregon to see Jens and Karlee. It was fun.

We went to the Country Mercantile store:

we went to an art day in the park:
(that night we also went to the Richland Temple)

we went on a boat ride in portland:

we got Blue Star Doughnuts:

suprisingly, the bacon doughnut was quite delish

we got Voodoo Doughnuts:

we went to Powell's:

we went to Tillamook:

we went to the Oregon coast:

we saw the Multnomah waterfalls:
and then we drove eleven hours home.
apparently my mouth doesn't shut and now we all have diabetes- our diet: ice cream and doughnuts.

Nirvana found in Patriotism

The Fourth of July (my second favorite holiday) came and passed. We went to Ape's and went to the fireworks at Thanksgiving Point. Niel was grumpy but we found the fireworks which make him a little less so.
This was actually taken on the fifth of Julio when brikelle and i were in search of entertainment and we came upon the magic of fire.
all over the valley surrounding us, people set off their fireworks that night. I had already decided last year that I'm having fireworks at my wedding, but I just thought I'd share that. I flipping love fireworks!

On the third of July, Sarah, Keely, and I went for a fun little outing to the Park City outlets to see what the Nike store held in its expensive little grasp. I may like to buy things, but there is absolutely no justification in purchasing any item of clothing on the clearance rack for $80. None whatsoever.

After the outlets we were famished. We drove our little hungry bodies to Main Street in search of cheap food. Most of the food there you had to be 21 to go in to get as well as a neurosurgeon, so we kept walking until we found a (more humble looking) restaurant that we would enjoy eating at.
We got a few slices of pizza at Red Banjo Pizza and it was absolutely delicious. Though paying $2.75 for a single slice felt a little ridiculous, we were so hungry that it was worth it. Food is important to me.
Speaking of food being important, Krispy Kreme is absolutely delicious as well. Have you ever been giving a perfectly fresh one? They melt in your mouth like cotton candy. So stinking good.
After we ate Zupas and donuts we went on a hike to Cecret Lake near Snowbird ski resort. I thought I was going to throw up. Don't I look pale and in pain? Oh wait. I always look pale and in pain.
When we got to the lake it was starting to get dark, but Brikelle still managed to send me a picture of Nirvana's Lake of Fire. Refer to the lyrics for this picture to make sense.

Drive In's, Movies, and (summer) Nights with Joy - not Guy (sorry!)

Last week, with a bunch of my friends, we went to a drive in movie. What else was there to do? It's summer, so nothing.

We all got in my friends car and drove to the Redwood Road theater.

Friday night. In June. At the drive in movies. With the popcorn. Bad idea. The line to even get the tickets backed up over 4 blocks of the busy road and we were lucky - we weren't the ones trying to turn left.

Eventually we got in but not without a little sacrifice on our part. We were 20 minutes late, so we missed the first 10 minutes of Pixar's Inside Out.

We loved it though. Let's just say a few tears were shed. Another great thing about it was the main character's name: Joy. Amy Poehler was great and Sadness, played by Phyllis Smith was hilarious.

I honestly can't wait to see Inside Out again. The second feature of that night was a different story.
Tomorrowland with George Clooney was just, well, not good. We had read what it was about and thought it sounded interesting, then we looked up rotten tomatoes which gave it a bad score, but we remembered their unjust rating of Austenland and we had hope that Tomorrowland (a lot of lands) would turn out to be a good movie, but really, it wasn't. It was also almost 2 in the morning. I slept through the climax. Maybe it actually was good. I didn't see it though. The question he did have to ask ourselves was what George was doing in it? It wasn't his best. It was weird.

My friends and I weren't the only ones at the theater. Yes I did mention all the other cars, but one of those cars held very similar DNA to me. Nielsianna was there with his girlfriend Stephanie. In the intermission between the movies, I noticed the truck on the row right in front of us had a silhouette that I knew. Then another silhouette I knew popped up. I decided to call him, and the silhouette answered the phone. I told them not to kiss, but who listens to their little sister? Not Niel.

So, the drive in movies were fun, but don't waste your money on Tomorrowland. Waste it on Inside Out. :)

So long! Farewell!

Little Buddy gave his farewell today. Believe it or not, it was a great talk. It was about sacrifice and he didn't skip the truth. He has had to sacrifice marriage proposals and offers to pay him not to leave from his girls. Brikelle left early. She was one of those proposals.
Afterwards we all went to his house for a cereal bar. These aren't even half of his girls.

Of course the picture I look the cutest in he looks high (poor Milwaukee)

and the picture I look the worst in, everyone else looks adorable. I shouldn't have moved. It was just so awkward in the center!

He also isn't that tall. He had to stand on the couch so we could all fit in the picture.

Glow stick, yumm!

Yesterday as I was decaying away in front of netflix I received a well needed call from an excited Cam. She and Nicky were in the car and on their way to pick me up. Camie had found a magical idea on what is known as the internet and it was something she wanted to test. Glow bubbles.

from left to right: me, nicky, camie, and SJ
Naturally when Camie and Nicky picked me up we turned the car right around so we could go to the dollar store for the supplies. Glow sticks and bubbles.

After that we picked up the rest of the crew over at Bwaya's house. SJ, Bwaya, Nicky, Camie, and I all hopped in Camie's car and drove.

bwaya made it into this photo
Big cottonwood canyon was lovely and we happened upon the most incredible sunset. admittedly, on the drive up we may have ended the already short life of an innocent bunny, but it was more like suicide on its part. You don't jump in front of moving cars. Simple as that.

an absolutely gorgeous sunset
Being the smarties that we are, and having a healthy lack of foresight, we hadn't thought to bring scissors; however, we were not going to be stopped. We would find a way to get those glow sticks open.

Many of us set to twisting and bending the poor things until they seemed to give. Others used keys to saw at them. One of us used our teeth. That was entertaining. Have you ever seen a glowing mouth? Glowing spit perhaps? Well, it was quite fun to watch.

Camie and Bwaya
Had those in the car taken my suggestion before we left and let me refill my water bottle, there might have been more than the very last drop to spare our poor friend. But either way the glow stick still broke at the teeth of a very determined individual and left the rest of us peeing our pants :)

Bwaya refused to take any good pictures. Nicky and SJ just adding charm
The bubbles didn't actually end up working, apparently tiny shards of glass don't help the magical spheres form. Maybe the glowing formula was too liquidy? Who knows. Chemistry was never my favorite subject.

camie wincing at how bright the flash is
But we did come away with a few lessons. Bring scissors. We looked like glowing, speckled aliens for a while. Bunnies are not worth swerving off a mountain. Let the bullet bikes pass you. No matter what the government calls adults, we're still really children.

Get ready for the next blogging machine!

That would be me. I'm the next blogging machine. I've already explained why I am blogging in the page titled "WHY A BLOG?"

I'm Joy and I'm bored, so here I am, writing a blog about it.

and here is a picture of me writing this post.

Ok, that's enough for one day of blogging.

Thanks, Bye
